Motivation to Workout - 6 Unique Tips

When is the last time you got pumped up to exercise? If you don’t know, that may be a sign that you need to change some things up. I am a huge fan of getting jazzed up before every workout. I guess you could say it is like an athlete before a big game, minus the fact that I am not going to ram my head through a wall from adrenalin overload.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not above that by any means, I just don’t know if my head can take any more beatings like that. These days, I use my mind to help me get ready for the workout and more than anything, it is about finding ways to stay consistent. Sure, you can get through a workout here and there without some mental creativity, but in most cases, it only works a few times.

The techniques below may seem a little far-fetched but I dare you try them and not have success. Really, all I do with each of these is address the issue in front of me. Below the techniques I have given you a link to a 15-minute, no equipment needed calisthenics workout that you can from home. Let’s get this calisthenics motivation going!

#1 – 1 Year Clothing Rule

Guess what? You don’t have to always wear the same workout gear. In fact, maybe it is time to retire what you are wearing because you deserve it? Or perhaps it is because 2005 is now 16 years in the rearview mirror. In all honesty, rewarding yourself with some new fitness attire is a great way to build some momentum.

A good rule of thumb is that if you were wearing the same outfit almost a year ago, pickup something newer.

#2 – 104 Days a Year

That is how much time you get with weekends every year. Why in the hell do so many people not use these days to work out? Is Saturday just run errands day? Is Sunday just sit on the couch day? If you are really wanting to be innovative, try a two day a week workout plan that focuses on a total body workout.

Can you imagine? You workout on the weekends and have the week off? I think the world might stop turning if that were to be.

#3 – Use Social Media to Your Advantage

I am going to come clean and tell you that I really cannot stand social media. Not just personally but also as an entrepreneur where it is kind of frowned upon not to use some type of platform. You can use social media to your fitness advantage however.

It doesn’t involve selfies or taking any pictures at all, rather looking at people who you went to high school with and competing against them in your mind. Perhaps they are already out of shape and you can just continue to put your foot on their calorie filled throat. To harsh? Are you in this to win or waste your time? Get a little devilish and come out looking like an angel.

#4 – Don’t Forget Those Who Can’t

This world is filled with people who have disabilities that don’t allow them to eat, let alone exercise. Don’t forget that sometimes you need to man or woman up to exercise because you owe it to those who can’t. I have to be honest, I am embarrassed if I miss a day of exercise when I know there’s people who didn’t get a fair shake.

#5 – Stop Talking Yourself Out of It

You know what I mean? You go all day dwelling on the exercise you have to do at the end of the day. It is kind of viscous circle if you think about it. You start out the morning ready, by noon you’re having second thoughts and by 4 pm you’re like fuck this, I’ll go tomorrow. And that happens tomorrow and the next day, etc.

The answer? Go in the morning. It solves all your headaches and I promise that you won’t talk yourself out of it during the day.

#6 – You're Different

Remember, you are different from the people you grew up. You don’t think like other people. You have self-pride. You want to be exercise successful. You can do more than those around you because you are better equipped to succeed. You are driven to accomplish more with your body and you are able to do this because you are physical and mental bad ass.


BONUS - #7 – Self-Motivation

Find some self-motivation that always seems to get you a little pissed off. I think everyone probably has some and for others like me, a lot. For instance, I have a stock pile of people who made fun of me when my head size changed while going through my disease Acromegaly. I won’t bore you with the specifics of the disease, but I will tell you I have used those people many a time to push myself.

By the way, is there anything better than seeing someone who was a dbag to you on social media, looking like they haven’t put the cake down for 10 years?
